What is Sound Engineering?

Sound engineering is the work of capturing, recording, editing, mixing and reproducing sound using mechanical and digital equipment. The professional who does this is called sound engineer or audio engineer. A sound engineer understands sound waves, their wavelength and frequency. It is both an art and a science.

During this course, students understand the entire process from basics of sound to post production. On this basis they work on polishing the sound. Eligibility

Air engineering course can be done after 12th. To do graduation in this field, it is mandatory for the candidate to have 12th pass (Careers after 12th PCM) with Physics, Chemistry and Maths subjects. However, a career in this field can be started after doing short term courses of 3 to 6 months in sound engineering from film making institutes. It is not necessary to have PCM in 12th for admission in these institutes.

During the Sound Engineering course, students are given technical and practical information about sound recording, editing and mixing. At the entry-level, sound engineers get an annual package of Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs 4.5 lakh. Like any other profession, the salary of a sound engineer increases with experience.With some experience, sound engineers earn Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10 lakh or even more annually. Big studios and production houses offer higher salaries than small and local setups.
